Wickes Community Support Project – Thursday 14 March

With just over a week to go before the new Wickes store opens (store opening on March 22) on Nottingham Road in Long Eaton, Attenborough Cricket Club were pleased to welcome a team of 9 store staff who gave up a full day to redecorate the home and away changing rooms.

They not only gave their time to help spruce up the environment with a lick of paint and re-staining the benches, but they also provided all the materials to do the work. This was just a small part of the over £3,000 worth of materials that they have donated to The Club to help it improve the facilities on The Strand, both indoor and out.

Anthony Hubbard, on behalf of the Fundraising Committee, said ‘we are delighted and extremely grateful to have had the support of Wickes in helping us improve our facilities. It has also been good to meet some of the team working at the new store and we look forward to seeing them down the ground during the cricket season’

Chris Verrall (Long Eaton Store Manager, front and centre in the team photo) said ‘It was a pleasure to meet Anthony, Carl, John and the Attenborough Cricket Club Team. The work they do and the time they dedicate to the club and community is amazing. Wickes, myself and the team couldn’t be happier to support the club and help with the renovations. I hope the donation and project will help a small amount towards the growth of the club’.

There was also a lovely touch from Colin (Kitchen and Bathroom Advisor) at the new Wickes store, who presented a plaque that he had crafted, to The Club.

The new Wickes store opens on Nottingham Road, Long Eaton, on Friday 22 March
