The Coaches Challenge for Tuesday is as follows :-
Challenge 7 – Over Arm Throwing Technique
Equipment: 1 tennis/soft ball and a target of any kind as seen in the demo.
Activity (click here for the demo):
i ) This challenge is all about improving your over arm throwing technique. Work through the drills in the demo and really focus on getting your technique right even if you are just pretending to throw the ball. Once you have got to grips with the technique then do the challenge below!
ii) The challenge is at the end of the demo. Hit your target as many times as possible in 10 go’s. You will need to use this technique for every throw and if possible, have your target around 10-15 meters away from you. If you have mastered this technique and finding it easy then replace your target with a smaller one!
Have as many goes as you like.
a) This challenge is not a timed one so don’t rush!
b) Just like bowling a ball, make sure your head is fixed on the target and you are making the most out of the non throwing arm which will act as a guide.
c) If you can learn this technique as soon as possible then it will really help you in games. This technique will improve your accuracy & speed and this may lead to run outs which will help your team. Also, using another throwing technique may lead to injury so please use this one!
Please email me by 7pm Tuesday with the following: –
a) Child’s name,
b) The number of hits out of 10
Bonus points will be awarded to the individual(s) for the most hits.
Please let me know if you have any queries.
Many thanks and stay safe.
