Cricket at Home – Coaches Challenge 15

Hi all,

I hope that everyone is continuing to have fun attempting the daily challenges being set by the coaches. The Coaches Challenge for Friday is as follows :-

Challenge 15 – Elimination bowling

Equipment: 1 tennis ball and 3 targets (each target can be different sizes and to have 3 similar size movable elements, eg 3 wellies, 3 drink bottles & 3 plastic plant pots, but anything will do ). So in total you will have 9 targets to hit.

Activity (click here for the demo):

i ) This challenge will test your bowling accuracy. Set the targets 10-15 metres away from you. You will then bowl 18 balls ( 3 overs ) at the targets, each time you hit a target you remove 1 of those items ( even if you hit more than one ) so you cant hit it again. The aim is to eliminate as many or all 9 targets with the 18 balls available, clearly it gets more difficult when there are less targets to aim at !
ii) please note the demo only gives you 6 balls ( 1 over ), you get 18 balls ( 3 overs ) in this challenge

You can have as many goes as you like at the challenge but you only get 18 balls at each set of 9 targets.

Coaches Tips:

a) Dont forget the star shape with your body and keep your bowling arm straight through to delivery.
b) Keep your head still throughout and focus your eyes on the landing area
c) You can do this as a standing start and dont forget to follow through with your bowling action to gather momentum.

Please email me by 7pm on Friday 15 May with the following: –

a) Child’s name,
b) The number targets eliminated out of 9 or if all 9 targets are hit within the 3 overs bowled how many balls did it take :

Bonus points will be awarded to the individual(s) for the most targets hit.

Please let me know if you have any queries.

Many thanks and stay safe.
