A personal message from a Honorary Life Member of Attenborough Cricket Club

Morning all,

John Mangham is one of our longest serving members at Attenborough Cricket Club as a player, committee member, umpire & active helper over many years; please take time to read this message below.

Cheers,

Honorary Secretary

“Dear fellow members,

It is four years to the day that I was diagnosed with Myeloma – a terminal blood cancer – and it is thanks to the efforts of a group of scientists funded by a small charity, Myeloma UK, that I am here and able to send out this message.

Over the past 10 years my son, Jonathan, AKA Mango, has raised some £20,000 for various cancer and cancer related charities through sponsorship of his ‘crazy long distance cycle rides’. Now that ‘Covid restrictions’ have been lifted he is back on the road and is looking for sponsorship in the form of donations to Myeloma UK for his latest challenge, the Tour du Mont Blanc. 330km and 8500m of climbing in a one day ride literally around Mont Blanc. Altitude, 330km and upwards of 8300m of climbing up 7 big climbs, it’s not known as the world’s hardest single stage mountain event for nothing; a challenge he is aiming to complete in under 18 hours.

If you can, please support this charity by giving a donation to Myeloma UK. To make a donation, please click here.

In anticipation of your generous support, thank you.

John Mangham”
