At last – no wind, no rain – some decent weather to accompany another excellent performance as Caythorpe crumbled to a 92 run defeat and the Squirrels consolidated their place at the top of the Nottinghamshire Premier League.
Winning the toss and electing to bat first the innings revolved around opener Paldip Sidhu’s brilliant 99 from 140 balls with 9 4s and a massive 6 - so disappointing to not see him complete what would have been such a well deserved hundred. The next highest score was 22 achieved by Buffy Landa, Savin Perera and Burham Alam players; perhaps unsurprisingly they all fell to a catch. The innings closed on 212 for 8, restricted somewhat by economical bowling from the Caythorpe spinners.
The writing was on the wall pretty early for Caythorpe as a devastating opening spell from Ben Kitt, well supported by Dom Harvey, reduced the visitors to 31 for 4. Savin Perera and Ian Stone then picked up a wicket in their first overs and the contest was all but over with the score at 54 for 6. Caythorpe were eventually bowled out for 120 with Ben Kitt taking 3 for 29, Ian Stone, tremendous again, with 3 for 12 from 9 overs and debutant Alex Lawrence polishing off the tail with 2 for 12.
It seems that there ain't no mountain high enough to stop these lads at the moment.
