Weekend Report 7th May

A tough week for the Saturday teams this week, starting with the 1s at home to Farnsfield, winning the toss the 1s bowled first and struck early putting the visitors 4 down for 37. A great recovery from the visitors got them to a challenging score of 275. In response Tom Moores lead the way scoring 56 but without anyone really going big the 1s were bowled out for 151 the full scorecard here. The 2s were away at Kimberly batting first they chalked up 203-8 with Burhan Alam scoring his maiden ton 108. Kimberly made light work of the chase securing the win inside 44 overs the full scorecard here. The 3s were in action away at Gedling and Sherwood, batting first they posted 152 with Collin McConnell top scoring with 58. It went down to the wire with Gedling chasing it 8 down full score here. The 4s started their campaign at long lane against Farndon 2s, batting first they posted 169 off their 36 overs with Josh Knight top scoring with 65, it went down to the wire with Farndon reaching the target with 2 balls to spare, full scorecard here.
Moving onto the Sunday sides there was more success for the 1s as they travelled to Gedling Colliery, batting first the captain lead from the from with Martin Firbank scoring an unbeaten 96*, supported well by Tom Murray 99 scoring 243-2 off the 40 overs. Then after a difficult start with the ball they clawed it back to limit Gedling to 228-4.
This week the juniors are well underway with games Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. Saturday cricket sees the 1s away to Welbeck, the 2s at the strand versus Ellerslie, the 3s at long lane against Southwell and the 4s away to Poplars CC. No game for the Sunday 1s but the 2s have a game at the strand against Wicked Willows. Good luck to all teams this week...
