Weekend Report 15th May

Things are looking up for the club after last weeks 4 loses on Saturday the teams responded well. we start with the 1s away at Welbeck winning the toss they batted first finding themselves in trouble at 7-2 losing both openers, then a 180 run stand between Chris Allcoat 92 and Byron Haycock 75 saw the side up to 225-6 of their 50 overs. Welbeck started well putting on 74 for the first wicket before spin of Adam Iyer and Peter Bhabra broke though and opened the flood gates as Welbeck fell to 87-4 and never really recovered to block out for a losing draw 177-8, full scorecard here. The 2s were at the strand against Ellersile 1s and batting first they found scoring difficult ending up on 152-8 Pete Bateman top scoring with 42 and Martin Rayner 35*. Trying to defend proved difficult without making early inroads Ellersile managed to chase it down in 43 overs, winning by 6 wickets, full scorecard here. The 3s at long lane bowling first put in a wonderful performance bowling Southwell out for 54 with Ned McCelland staring with 4/9. Then putting a clinical performance with the bat chasing it down for the loss of 2 wickets with Ned top scoring with the bat 24, full scorecard here. The 4s turned around a disappointing performance last week with a solid performance against Poplars CC, bowling first they knocked them over for 162 then chasing it down within 38 overs with Carl Knight top scoring with 68, full scorecard here. No game for the Sunday 1s this week but are back in action at the strand against West Bridford, and all 4 Saturday teams in action again with the 1s at the strand against Radcliffe, the 2s and 4s away at Collingham, and the 3s at long lane against Clifton. good luck to all squirrels in action this week...
