The Spirit of Cricket

To the Players and Club representatives.

Firstly, can I say that this note is not directed specifically at any individual in the club, but serves as a reminder to us all as to how we should behave while representing Attenborough Cricket Club on and off the field.

At Attenborough Cricket Club we have a long established ethos of playing the game of cricket 'the right way' based on traditions dating back many years. Whether it be in the 'cut and thrust' arena of league cricket or in the more gentle atmosphere of social cricket, our aim is always to play competitive and fair cricket, within the laws of the game and in accordance with the 'Spirit of Cricket'.

What is MCC Spirit of Cricket?

In addition to remaining responsible for the Laws of Cricket, MCC has also long believed that the game should be played in accordance with its traditional 'spirit'.

Please be mindful of this Spirit of Cricket ECB initiative. As a club, we have a duty to respect our opposition and to ensure that those watching can enjoy the cricket. Everyone connected with Attenborough Cricket Club is responsible for their own actions such that we can then all be proud of what we achieve individually and collectively, both on and off the field.

We have a very good reputation within the Nottinghamshire cricketing community, and also further afield.

I am sure you all agree that the continuation of this must figure above all else.

Thank you for your support.

Nick Allcoat
