With the 3rd and 4th having completed their fixtures for 2015 there were only two games this Saturday. The 1sts went down to Cavaliers in their penultimate NPL fixture and the 2nds signed off their SNCL Division C promotion winning campaign with a win against Thrumpton.
In the face of some challenging bowling the 1sts could score only 141 with Alec McKinlay 35 and Saad Ashraf 32 being the main scorers. In reply Cavaliers seemed to be in some bother at 21 for 3 but eventually eased their way to a 5 wicket win with Stanny Simon and Akif Farooq each claiming a couple of wickets.
There was a definite end of term party mood at The Strand where the 2s entertained Thrumpton. Winning the toss and electing to bat there was a 47 opening stand and then a 109 run third wicket partnership between Martin Shoemaker 67 and Jack Harrison 61. At 159 for 2 the prospect of a score over 300 looked achievable but 8 wickets were to fall for just 50 in a decidedly lob-sided scorecard. However Thrumpton, after losing a couple of quick wickets for 8 runs including their captain, were never really in the hunt and were eventually bowled out for 146. Wickets were shared between James Hallam 4 for 47, Martin Rayner 3 for 25 and Tom Shields 3 for 47.
