Saturday Results Round Up

There were three wins out of four this Saturday with all of our South Notts Cricket League sides winning and maintaining their positions in the top two of their respective divisions.

In the NPL the Notts Academy were the visitors to The Strand and
Dom Harvey
they managed to restrict us to 180 for 9 in the 50 overs with Martin Shoemaker making 33 and Stanny Simon a rapid unbeaten 22 at the end of the innings.  Six batsman managed to get a start but weren't able to progress past 20 and this probably resulted in posting a total that was 30 or 40 short of par on the day.  The Academy lost 4 wickets in passing our total with just 10 balls to spare.  Dom Harvey was the pick of the bowlers with 2 for 29 from 14 overs.

In Division C of the SNCL the 2s recorded another win in beating Keyworth by 5 wickets.  After winning the toss and putting the opposition into bat it was Tom Shields, looking back to near his best, taking the bowling honours with 4 for 25 from 12 overs.  There were also a couple of wickets apiece for Jai Jandu and James Hallam as Keyworth were dismissed for 124.  The reply revolved around a stand of 71 for the second wicket between Chris Allcoat 46 and a patient Richard Henson 15.  The win maintains the pressure on leaders Plumtree who hold a 20 point lead having played one game more.

The 3s had a comfortable (at least by last week's standards) 14 run win over
Sam Randall
Wollaton 3s at Kinoulton! Sam Randall 30 and Colin McConnell 29 led the way with the bat contributing to a score of 151 for 9 before Sam Henson with another 4 wicket haul, aided and abetted by Matt Shaw with five victims behind the stumps, restricted the hosts to 137 all out.  The 3s maintain their unbeaten record and very healthy lead of 63 points at the top of Division J.

In Division M the 4s had a convincing 8 wicket win over Wymeswold at Long
Dave Harris
Lane.  The visitors could only manage 121 with young Reece Caine 3 for 34 and Ciaran Doherty 2 for 15 among the wickets. It was then left for Dave Harris 40 and makeshift opener Ciaran Doherty 47 to knock off the majority of the runs required before losing a wicket.  On this form Carl Knights opening berth can't be too assured for next week after Ciaran's impressive performance opening the innings!  In similar fashion to the 2s the 4s maintain the pressure on leaders Farndon at the top of Division M.  Next Saturday's trip to Farndon should be a good game!
