Saturday Results Round Up

There were wins today for all three teams in action.

After two disappointing losses last weekend, which coincided with guest appearances from a reserve scorer, the 1s were back to form with a 5 wicket win over Ordsall Bridon.  Our visitors were restricted to 207 for 7 from their 50 overs with 3 for 44 from Dom Harvey making a welcome return from injury.  In a convincing reply there were good contributions from Alec McKinlay 51, Matt Cross 47*, Buffy Landa 32 and Ben Bhabra 32 to secure 20 points and a 5 wicket win.

With the 2s without a game it seems as though the 3s have picked up the 2s
Mark Walsh
George Barker
Pete Bateman
priceless characteristic of not knowing how to lose.  After being asked to bat first on a pitch where the ball was often very elusive we descended to 39 for 8 and it was left to Nick Anderson-Pearce and youngsters Mark Walsh and George Barker to give the bowlers some hope by bringing the score up to 80 all out.  The partnership between Mark and George was particular pleasing as they both batted with a maturity beyond their years and with such purpose that they effectively won the game for us. Clifton Village's response turned into something of a shambles as Pete Bateman 6 for 21 (taking a break from his run scoring) and Arjun Sandhu 3 for 3 reduced them to 55 all out with 41 of these scored by opener Phil McNeill to leave our 3s the victors by 25 runs and retain their unbeaten record for 2015.

The 4s made it a hat-trick of wins in a close fought contest at Whatton & Aslockton.  In another relatively low scoring game the home side made 117 with Colin McConnell taking 3 for 15 before we knocked off the runs with 7 wickets down and just one over to spare to maintain the 4s unbeaten start to the season.
