Attenborough seemed to be robbed of a win at the start of their 2015 Nottinghamshire Premier League season as bad light forced the abandonment of the game with the Squirrels needing just 45 more runs with 8 wickets in hand.
Stand-in skipper Thom Murray won the toss and invited Clifton Village to bat first and they were soon reduced to 29 for 3 as Dominic Harvey, against his old club, and Ben Bhabra made early inroads. Clifton recovered well despite frequent interruptions for rain to make 236 for 8 from their full 50 overs. Dom Harvey with 4 for 47 and Andy Simkiss 3 for 51 were the leading wicket takers.
Attenborough made a strong start in reply with Alec McKinlay (61) and new arrival Buffy Landa (47) sharing a 114 run opening stand. After their departure in was Matt Cross that took the fight to the opposition scoring 57 unbeaten runs from 47 balls including 4 4s and 3 6s.
Going into the last hour it seemed that the home side would come out on top but the fickle weather had the last word. A real shame that a winner couldn't be decided in such a good contest.
