Saturday Results

The 1sts returned to the top of Division A with a 3 hard fought 3 wicket win at Long Eaton.  Andy Simkiss was the pick of the bowlers picking up 3 for 44 in Long Eaton's total of 178 for 5.  Sam Clulow (49) and Craig Heiden (41) then provided the backbone of the reply to set up a thrilling final weekend to the season.  We take an 8 point lead into the game against West Indian Cavaliers at The Strand whilst Hucknall host Long Eaton.  On paper we have the easier game but unfortunately they'll be playing on grass.

The 2nds won again against Underwood to maintain their 100% record and move to within 12 points of a 300 point haul in Division D.  In a low scoring affair Underwood scored 111 with Tom Shields taking 3 wickets.  At 82 for 2 we looked to be cruising home before 4 wickets fell and 19 runs still needed.  It was left to Charlie Simkiss and Gordon Airey to hit a few boundaries to secure the win. The 3rds had a very narrow win at Long Lane against Oxton.  We managed 87 all out with Sam Randall top scoring with 39.  On the face of it a very low score but it turned out to be the highest scored in the division as Oxton fell just 2 runs short.  Skipper Randall clutching on to a sharp chance at slip and then running round from mid-off before diving to claim the winning catch - hard to believe but I saw it with my own eyes - great stuff Sam.  The 3rds will finish 5th in Division J barring penalty points being deducted. At Ruddington the 4ths had their game abandoned due to bad light after suffering rain delays during the game.  Ruddington scored 196 for 9 with James Hallam claiming 3 for 34 and our reply was halted on 163 for 6 after 39 overs with Jack Harrison (65) and James Hallam (62) contributing most of the runs.  A real shame the game didn't reach a conclusion.
